Hollywood.com sat down with castmembers Christian Bale, Aaron Eckhart, Maggie GyllenhaalGary Oldman and director Chris Nolan to talk about the new movie, Heath Ledger‘s performance and more.

“I did drive [the Batmobile], but I didn’t drive it on film I would just race up and down. There’s a Lamborghini in there, you know, oh I had to go practice on that for many hours [laughs]. I would have to learn how to do the 180s on that, it was really essential. The motorbike as well, I spent days just roaring up and down, all I had to do was pull up and get off it. I insisted it was absolutely necessary for my preparation.

“First of all I wanted to make sure that I had [Katie Holmes’] blessing in terms of doing it…I really like her, but I didn’t think it would do anyone any good for me to try to imitate her. It would have been awful, you know what I’m saying? I could never have done that so I thought, you know I have to make her a new woman. “I have a confession to make. I am not a fan of comic books. I was never a comic book kid. The format irritates me. Do I read here? Is that comment his or hers? Then it goes to the next frame and I’m thinking, “is he talking to him or her?” It irritates me. I can’t get on with it at all. So I really don’t know much.”

[IMG:L] Directing the ‘Dark Knight’: Chris Nolan Brings Batman Back to the Big Screen
“I feel quite strongly the audience can tell the difference on some level between things that are animated and things that are created in the computer and things that are photographed, even if your photography is then somehow manipulated or you have wire removals. I think in the film we have about 650 visual effects shots…Typically these films will have between 1,000 and 2,000 effects shots. So, it’s a pretty low number of shots for this scale of film…”
