Dave Chappelle donates $50,000 to Flint, Michigan charity

Comedian Dave Chappelle has donated $50,000 (£39,000) to a charity in Flint, Michigan.

Chappelle was scheduled to perform at benefit for the struggling city last year (16), but cancelled his appearance to attend the Academy Awards with pal Chris Rock.

On Wednesday (07Jun17), the 43-year-old took to the stage at The Whiting venue in Flint and announced he was giving his earnings from the show to a local charity.

According to TMZ, he donated the funds to the Community Foundation of Greater Flint. The money will benefit children affected by the Flint water pollution crisis, which arose in 2014 and led to thousands of residents being exposed to lead-contaminated water.
