David Bowie’s Blackstar turned into Instagram movie miniseries

David Bowie’s final album Blackstar has been interpreted into a Instagram video miniseries starring actresses Patricia Clarkson and Tavi Gevinson.
The rock icon lost his battle with cancer two days after the record’s release in January (16), and now producers of InstaMiniSeries have created a visual interpretation of Bowie’s project as a four-minute movie, titled Unbound.
The bosses behind the project tell Variety the miniseries will be a collection of images and scenes inspired by the album’s “moods”, and will star The Green Mile actress Clarkson and writer/actress Gevinson.
Producers claim Bowie gave them “unique pre-release access to the music from Blackstar” last autumn (15), allowing them to “create our own visual interpretations of his songs, with no limits or preconditions on his part.”
The 16 episode project will roll out over three weeks, with the first post going live on Thursday (25Feb16) on the InstaMiniSeries Instagram account.
The new project will go live a day after Bowie’s friends Annie Lennox and Gary Oldman paid a touching tribute to their late pal as he was posthumously honoured with with the Icon Award at the 2016 Brit Awards on Wednesday night (24Feb16).
Their speeches were followed by a musical tribute featuring singer Lorde and Bowie’s backing band, who tackled a rendition of Life on Mars.
