Dennis Quaid returns to The Right Stuff for audio book

Dennis Quaid has signed on to revamp the book behind his 1983 movie The Right Stuff for a new audio version of Tom Wolfe’s story.
Quaid, who portrayed Gordon Cooper in the Philip Kaufman film, has re-read the book for Audible.com’s new digital release.
The Right Stuff is “a breathtaking space epic that explores the minds and courageous spirits of the first American astronauts to conquer space”, a release reads.
“Recording The Right Stuff for Audible – my very first audiobook recording – was both a familiar and entirely new thing for me,” Dennis says. “I enjoyed revisiting the story after my role in the film, but reading it aloud by myself in a studio without the aid of costumes, props, or other actors to play off of was different than anything I had ever done before.
“It was a fun and challenging experience, and I think listeners will enjoy my interpretation.”
Audible Studios bosses have also acquired the rights to produce Wolfe’s The Electric Kool-Aid Acid Test for the first time in digital audio, with casting and a release date to be announced.
