Boston Legal Finale
(Monday, Dec. 8, 2008)
Tonight, James Spader and William Shatner hear the pound of the gavel one last time. Thanks to last week’s episode, we know that the law firm of Crane, Poole & Schmidt is flat broke — and consequently, will retire for good. But fat lady be damned, Alan Shore (Spader) is on hands and knees, begging a judge (cum-psychiatrist?) to allow Denny Crane (Shatner) to experiment with an unapproved drug that could slow his mad-cow disease Alzheimer’s. On the other drug end, there’s also a college student that Harvard has rejected because’s she’s taken a brain-enhancing substance to elevate her SAT scores. Meanwhile, Betty White returns just be batty ‘n’ wacky as ever — that’s just the Boston Legal way. If not perfect, it was endearing (and awarded multiple Emmys!) while it lasted. But who’s to say writer-producer David E. Kelley (The Practice, Ally McBeal) isn’t cooking up further litigious fare? Like in Chicago perhaps? (NBC is said to have snatched Kelley’s pilot.)
LAST FRIDAY’S DO-IT: Get behind the scenes with Richard Nixon!
