Miss America: Countdown to the Crown Premiere
(Friday, Jan. 2, 2009)

Oh, come on. You know you love the Miss America Pageant. What you don’t love, however, is when Miss Oklahoma — or some other comparable upset — takes the crown and you really, really believed that it should’ve been Miss Idaho. (Stupid judges.) But now, your opinion will matter. TLC gives Americans a chance to choose their bathing-suit-wearing mascot by offering four Fridays of get-to-know-you friendly competition. While aboard the Queen Mary, the 52 contestants will compete in Road Rules-like activities, and just before the actual pageant airs on Jan. 24, passionate viewers like yourself will be able to vote for your favorite four state broads that will make up the top 15. OK, so we don’t have total free reign à la American Idol, but pageantry has come a long way since Sarah Palin was competing.
