Survivor: Tocantins Premiere
(Thursday, Feb. 12, 2009)
It’s surprising to find out that this is the 18th chapter of Survivor. Why, because we’re not tired of this show, like, at all. Host Jeff Probst is already touting this Brazilian Highlands-conquest edition as ranking among the top five Survivors ever. The setting is the very rugged state of Tocantins — high desert, 120 degrees, snakes, a rumbling river oasis, the latter being the two tribes’ only means of relief during their 39-day stay. We’re hearing that the cast is something to write home about; among the eight women and eight men are a middle-school principal, a hairstylist, a cattle rancher, a bus driver, a soccer coach/orchestra conductor and the youngest castaway ever: He’s 19 (and very appreciative that the show lowered its minimum-age requirement from 21 to 18). Within the first five minutes of tonight’s premiere (CBS, 8 PM ET/PT), a tsunami-sized twist will reveal itself …
YESTERDAY’S DO-IT: Simon, Randy, Kara and Paul select the top 36!
