Conan‘s here. An hour earlier. In Los Angeles. And with better lighting. He’s got new digs at 30 Rockefeller Center, and Tonight Show old-schoolers will inevitably remark of the Johnny Carson in Conan’s new, blue, oh-so-elegant set. But Mr. O’Brien is quick to tell the New York Times and his loyal fans: “You can still be a jackass in an elegant space.” (Phew.) In the past week, Conan’s been staging his act no more than five times — test runs with Chuck‘s Zachary Levi as a guest star and Army Navy as the guest musical act; hard to say if David Letterman‘s new rival picked up any comedic Do’s and Don’ts during these fake shows, but he did pick up a new couch and desk chair (the former furniture was a heinous match with the carpeting). Tonight, Conan welcomes his guest BFF Will Ferrell (you know, he’s got a movie called Land of the Lost to promote this week), big-deal band Pearl Jam and, hopefully, some very funny first jokes. (Conan, if you’re out there, we’ve kindly put together a few tips for ya.)

LAST FRIDAY’S DO-IT: Go see this year’s Best Foreign Language Film — finally!
