Dolly Parton embarking on biggest tour in 25 years

Country music icon Dolly Parton has announced her first major North American tour in over 25 years.
The Jolene legend revealed on Monday (07Mar16) she is hitting the road and stopping in more than 60 cities throughout the U.S. and Canada, with specific dates to be announced.
Parton’s upcoming trek marks a much larger stint than she’s had in recent years, and she plans on singing both classics and new tunes from her two-disc LP, Pure & Simple, which she also announced on Monday.
The accompanying tour will also be named Pure & Simple, an approach she will be using for her more laid back concerts.
“We don’t have a lot of electric instruments,” Parton, 70, said during a press conference. “I’m doing a lot of songs really scaled-down… but, of course, I do a lot of talkin’. What else would I do, right?”
The Pure & Simple album, due out this summer (16), features one disc titled, Dolly’s Biggest Hits, which includes the singer’s beloved songs.
“I don’t know how pure I am, but I know I’m pretty simple,” Parton quipped. “I said ‘hits.’ I’ll have to be careful when I say that but it really is called that.”
