Dolly Parton’s sister calls on her to condemn ex-publicist’s alleged harassment

Dolly Parton’s sister Stella has called on her to speak out about sexual harassment allegations made against her former publicist.
The country music star Austin Rick and 17 former clients have all accused Dolly’s longtime representative Kirt Webster of sexual harassment or assault. Austin alleges Kirt drugged him and sexually assaulted him at a party in 2008.
The Jolene singer, 71, severed ties with the publicist last week (end05Nov17) but wrote on Twitter that he had done a “wonderful job” and that she hoped the accusations were not true.
Stella, 68, who is also a singer, called on her sister to speak out more strongly about sexual harassment and condemn his alleged behaviour.
“I think she (Dolly) needs to condemn this type of behaviour, whether he is guilty or not,” Stella told USA Today. “I know for a fact she would not support that type of behavior and I know she’s probably extremely shocked that this has in any way implicated her in this.”
One allegation made against Webster is that he traded opportunities to meet Dolly Parton for sexual favours.
After saying she would talk to her sister about the situation, Stella added, “I am very hurt, offended, shocked and disgusted that we have this kind of thing going on right under the noses of people who work for my sister. After all these years of building the career she has and to have this attached to her has totally blindsided me.”
On Wednesday (08Nov17) Stella launched an appeal on Facebook asking anyone with allegations against the publicist to contact her via email
“Anything that harms my sister harms my entire family and I take that seriously,” she wrote on the social media site.
Kid Rock, Billy Ray Cyrus and Naomi Judd also cut ties with the publicist in the wake of the scandal.
