Dominic Cooper shows Bond bosses he’s spy ready by signing on for new Cold War series

Dominic Cooper has boosted his James Bond credentials by signing on to play a spy in a new Cold War series.
The Mamma Mia! star has been very open about his dream to play 007 and possibly replace Daniel Craig when his fellow Brit steps down from the role, and now he’s out to show Bond bosses what he’ll look like as a spy.
Cooper will play a top British agent sent to Berlin, Germany in the early 1960s to find a traitor in novelist and screenwriter William Boyd’s new drama, Spy City, which will be directed by German-Portuguese filmmaker Miguel Alexandre, according to Deadline.
The story takes place just before Soviet leader Nikita Khrushchev ordered the building of the Berlin Wall, which divided the city from 1961 to 1989.
Cooper previously joined the race to play the next 007, calling Bond an “astonishing character”.
“I’d love to (play Bond)…,” he said. “He plays in every English boy’s childhood memory… As long as I felt I could bring something else to it, do something dynamic, I’d love the challenge.”
