Donald Sutherland feted at Governors Awards

Actor Donald Sutherland and filmmaker Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu were presented with honorary Oscars on Saturday (11Nov17) at the 2017 Governors Awards.
Officials at the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences saluted Sutherland for his career achievements, alongside writer/director Charles Burnett, cinematographer Owen Roizman, and director Agnes Varda, while Inarritu was feted for his celebrated virtual reality project Carne y Arena (Flesh and Sand).
Angelina Jolie served as one of the guest presenters at the Los Angeles event, where she shared a dance with Varda, while other guests included Tom Hanks, Salma Hayek, Gary Oldman, Ben Stiller, Emma Stone, and Jake Gyllenhaal.
The annual awards show took place amid a series of high-profile sex scandals rocking Hollywood, with allegations of inappropriate behaviour made against the likes of producer Harvey Weinstein, filmmaker Brett Ratner, and actor Kevin Spacey.
However, there was no mention of the controversies on the night, which included an appearance by Dustin Hoffman, who recently issued a public apology after he was accused of sexually harassing a female author on a film set when she was 17 years old.
