Douglas Gets DeMille Award; Costner Choosen as Miss Golden Globe

The 61st annual Golden Globes has chosen Michael Douglas as this year’s Cecil B. DeMille Award recipient for career achievement, The Associated Press reports.

Douglas, 59, follows in the footsteps of his father, Kirk Douglas, who won the same honor in 1968. The younger Douglas will be the first second-generation recipient of the honour, which will be given out Sun. Jan. 25.

Previous recipients include Gene Hackman, Harrison Ford, Al Pacino and Sophia Loren.

The Hollywood Foreign Press Association also announced that Kevin Costner‘s 17-year-old daughter, Lily Costner, will escort winners offstage at this year’s ceremony as Miss Golden Globe, AP reports.

Since the Golden Globes typically does not have a specific host, the awards ceremony traditionally appoints the off-srping of well-known celebrities to help assist the proceedings.

“This will be a special night for me, knowing how carefully she has thought about this and come to the decision on her own,” the proud father told BBC News.
