Drake presented with pricey custom jacket from Raptors officials

Rapper Drake has been honoured with a diamond-studded custom sports jacket for his fierce support for his hometown basketball team, the Toronto Raptors.
The God’s Plan hitmaker, who serves as the team’s global ambassador, is regularly spotted courtside, energetically cheering on the players, and on Tuesday night (21May19), his lifetime loyalty was rewarded by Raptors officials with a specially-designed jacket worth an estimated $769,000 (£607,000).
According to the Toronto Star, Drake has been gifted with a custom coat, lined with a Raptors jersey, for the past four years to thank him for his continued support, but before they faced off with the Milwaukee Bucks in Game 4 of the NBA’s Eastern Conference final, team bosses presented him with the most expensive piece of attire to date, which took nearly a year-and-a-half to complete.
“This is truly a one of one piece,” designer Micheal Nguyen said of the jacket, which features at least 235 diamonds hand-embroidered into the shape of an owl, a nod to Drake’s OVO label logo, as well as a 1.2-carat diamond pin on the left lapel.
Team representatives shared a photo of the backstage presentation to Drake by Raptors president Masai Ujiri on their Instagram page, and used lyrics from the title track of his 2016 album Views to caption the image.
It read, “You don’t worry ’bout fittin’ in when you custom made. #WeTheNorth”.
Drake’s presence at the Scotiabank Arena in Toronto appeared to help the Raptors level the series 2-2, as they powered to a 120-102 win against the Bucks.
Games five and six will take place on Thursday and Saturday, respectively.
