Eddie Izzard backs UNICEF’s child hunger campaign

The funnyman is a longtime supporter of the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), and even embarked on a tour of Africa last year (11) in a bid to raise awareness of humanitarian issues.

Now, Izzard has followed in the footsteps of stars including David Beckham, Whoopi Goldberg and Robbie Williams by signing a petition calling for British Prime Minister David Cameron to help feed needy youngsters.

In a post on his Twitter.com page, he writes, “If you only do 1 thing today add your name to unicef_uk’s letter to David Cameron. Child hunger has got to stop!

“I went to Kenya last year and saw what stunting does to children. Please, speak up with unicef_uk to stop child hunger.”

David Walliams is also backing the cause, and adds, “Just 24 hrs before unicef_uk’s child hunger campaign reaches David Cameron. My name’s on here, make sure yours is too.”
