Eddie Redmayne robbed of quality time with J.K. Rowling

Eddie Redmayne is keen to spend more time with Harry Potter creator J.K. Rowling after briefly meeting the author to discuss his Fantastic Beasts character.
The Oscar winner had a list of questions for the writer all about her literary boy wizard and how he was created, but when a meeting with busy Rowling was cut to just an hour, he realised he had to stop being a fan and get down to business.
“There were so many things I wanted to talk to her about, but we only had an hour to talk about my character in Fantastic Beasts,” the actor explains to the BBC. “But it was riveting.
“Getting the opportunity to talk to an author about where their characters come from is so unique, and for her it comes from a really personal place. It was really lovely to hear about his genesis in her imagination.”
Redmayne portrays ‘magizoologist’ Newt Scamander, as he battles to keep the peace within New York City’s secret society of witches and wizards, 70 years before famous wizard Harry Potter is born.
Eddie confesses he felt “enormous pressure” throughout the shoot to please the most devoted Harry Potter fans, and there’s one scene he was so terrified about, he had to get a little drunk to perfect.
He explains Rowling left him no clues when she wrote “And Newt performs mating dance” in the script, leaving him baffled as to what to do.
“I was just wrapping my head around that one,” he tells WENN. “I made a quick call to Alexandra Reynolds, who is a choreographer who I worked with on The Theory of Everything and the Danish Girl, and I was like, ‘I need help on a mating dance!’ So we went down a YouTube hole of mating bird calls, mating this that and the other.
“Once every few days I would’ve had a hardcore drink in the middle of the day, and Alex would film me doing an amazing dance and we would send it to (director) David Yates and there would be this absolutely horrific four hour period when I would wait for a reaction. And then a very serious reaction would come back: “I don’t think this is quite seductive enough. I’m not sure about any of it’.
“It was a long process and eventually made what you see in the film. There’s about 10 videos out there somewhere in the world that could end my career!”
