Elton John presents winners of music video contest during Cannes Film Festival

Sir Elton John has unveiled the winners of his music video contest during the Cannes Film Festival.
The legendary singer and his songwriting collaborator Bernie Taupin launched the competition last year (16) in honour of their 50-year partnership, calling on filmmakers from around the world to submit videos for three of their tracks.
Winners of the contest, titled The Cut, were announced in February (17) and their videos were presented during a screening on the French Riviera on Monday (22May17). The winning videos were created for the early 1970s hits Tiny Dancer, Rocket Man, and Bennie And The Jets.
The talented filmmakers are Majid Adin for Rocket Man, Jack Whiteley and Laura Brownhill for Bennie And The Jets, and Max Weiland for Tiny Dancer.
During the ceremony, John shared his excitement over the creativity behind each of the visual works inspired by his beloved tunes.
“I’ve been moved and amazed by these reimaginings of our songs and pretty humbled by the process overall,” the 70-year-old said.
“The future of creativity is clearly collaborative, fusing art and technology, and it’s been fantastic to open up our work to the next generation of creative talent and to share that process with the world on YouTube.”
The videos are now available to view on the platform. The winners, meanwhile, were each given $10,000 (£7,700) to finance future projects.
