Kike Santander, a Latin Grammy-winning songwriter and producer, has sued Emilio Estefan and two of his companies for breach of contract, the songwriter’s attorney, Richard Wolfe, told Reuters on Wednesday. The singer alleges Estefan, husband of Gloria Estefan, owed him royalties but he doesn’t know how much the Latin mogul owned him because his companies, Estefan Enterprises and Foreign Imported Productions and Publishing, had declined to turn over contract records. Estefan Enterprises released a statement Tuesday saying Santander sought to “strong-arm the Estefans into releasing Mr. Santander from his contractual and financial obligations.” The Colombian-born singer has written more than 200 songs for the Estefans and signed more than 20 contracts with them between 1995 and 1997, Wolfe told Reuters.
