Empire’s Nia Long is reportedly set to join her co-star Terrence Howard in upcoming romantic drama Life In A Year.

It was recently announced that Howard had signed on to Mitja Okorn’s project to play the father of Jaden Smith’s character Daryn, a teenager whose girlfriend Isabelle (Cara Delevingne) has been diagnosed with terminal cancer.

Now Deadline reports Howard’s Empire colleague Long, who plays the nemesis of his onscreen ex-wife Taraji P. Henson in the record company-set series, is set to board the venture as his spouse.

The movie will also see Long reteam with Jaden’s father Will Smith, who she starred alongside on cult ’90s TV show The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, with the actor set to produce the new feature.

Smith will be producing the flick for Sony and Overbrook Entertainment alongside Marc Bienstock and his long-time business partner James Lassiter. Okorn will helm the film, which is based on a script penned by Jeffrey Addiss and Will Matthews.

Another name added to the cast earlier this week (beg03Apr17) was Icelandic actor Stony Blyden, who will play the best friend of Daryn.

Production is slated to begin this spring (17).

The stars can be seen in plenty more projects before its release though, with Long set to appear in films Roxanne Roxanne and Lemon in 2017 while Howard has movie Thirty Eight out this year.

Meanwhile model turned actress Delevingne has multiple features out this year, including Tulip Fever opposite the likes of Christoph Waltz and Judi Dench. Jaden’s schedule appears fairly quiet, with Life in a Year his only project coming up following a stint in TV show The Get Down in 2016.
