Eva Longoria joins Overboard remake

Actress Eva Longoria is preparing to set sail for the Overboard remake.
The Desperate Housewives beauty will join Anna Faris and Eugenio Derbez in the forthcoming revamp of the 1987 romantic comedy, which starred real-life couple Kurt Russell and Goldie Hawn.
The modern reboot will be given a gender-bending plot twist as the original Overboard, directed by Garry Marshall, starred Goldie as a spoiled rich woman who falls overboard on a yacht and wakes up in hospital with amnesia. A carpenter, played by Kurt, convinces her that she’s his wife and the mother of his kids.
This time around, the roles will be reversed, with Eugenio portraying a wealthy Mexican playboy who, after going overboard, wakes up believing he is married to a single mother, played by Anna.
Eva has been cast as Anna’s onscreen boss and close confidante, and she celebrated her new gig on Twitter, writing, “So excited to join this amazingly talented cast!! See you guys soon! #Overboard”.
The reboot will be co-directed and written by Rob Greenberg and Bob Fisher, while Eugenio will serve as one of the project’s producers, reports Deadline.com.
Production is set to begin imminently in Vancouver, Canada.
