Families of Jenni Rivera’s entourage in bid to enforce $70m judgement

The families of members of Jenni Rivera’s entourage killed in a plane crash are planning legal action to ensure the aircraft’s owners pay $70 million (£53.9 million) in compensation.
In July (16) a judge in Los Angeles entered a default judgement against the executives of Starwood Management, the owners of the Learjet plane that crashed in December 2012 killing singer-songwriter Jenni and four of her employees, after they abandoned their defence in the case.
Seven family members of Jenni’s publicist Arturo Rivera, make-up artist Jacobo Yebale, hairstylist Jorge Armando Sanchez Vasquez and lawyer Mario Macias Pacheco have hired attorney Danny Abir in a bid to ensure the company pays up.
According to editors at TMZ.com, Abir, whose firm successfully pursued rapper Tyga over a $480,000 (£369,840) debt to a landlord, is demanding Starwood executives honour the judgement or forfeit the company’s assets.
Rivera’s family still has an active lawsuit seeking unspecified damages from Starwood bosses.
The singer’s family settled a negligence lawsuit with Bombardier Inc, the company who serviced the doomed aircraft, in June (16).
