Fascinating fact:

Leonardo Da Vinci’s Salvator Mundi painting has been sold for $450 million (£341 million) at auction at Christie’s in New York, smashing the world record for any work of art sold either privately or at auction. Following the auction, Christie’s refused to reveal either the name of the winning bidder or the region they come from, with CEO Guillaume Cerutti adding: “I cannot say if he or she will want to be public.” The painting of Jesus Christ was commissioned by King Louis XII of France more than 500 years ago and was first unveiled to the public at the National Gallery in London in 2011.
