3. One of David Beckham’s future teammates from the L.A. Galaxy has offered to work as the star’s pool cleaner. Defender Ty Harden hopes to boost his $18,000 annual earnings by working for the British athlete. Beckham will make $1 million a week with the team.
4. English author J.K. Rowling is hosting a midnight signing of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows at London’s Natural History Museum on July 21.
5. Tokyo will host the world premiere of the fifth Harry Potter film, The Order of the Phoenix, on June 28–a month after Spider-Man 3 broke box office records there.
6. Grindhouse filmmaker Robert Rodriguez has signed on to direct the remake of cult 1968 sci-fi movie Barbarella. In the original, Jane Fonda played the sexy title character.
7. Mr. Bean star Rowan Atkinson has splashed out $1 million on a D-Type Jaguar to add to his classic car collection. He already boasts an Aston Martin Virage, a Lancia Integrale, a Lancia Stratos and Bentleys.
8. Angelina Jolie has shot a new print ad for Japanese cosmetics giants Shiseido. The campaign for the company’s new liquid eyeliners will appear in magazines later this year.
9. Music legend Quincy Jones and moviemaker Brett Ratner are set to team up to make an ambitious documentary about Brazil’s annual street carnival in Rio de Janeiro. The odd couple plans to make Carnaval 3D: The Magic & The Music as a three-dimensional big-screen spectacular.
10. House star Omar Epps has started writing a graphic novel, called The Other Side of Truth.
