For Pitt, past relationships were the “pits”

Even the “Sexiest Man Alive” can run into trouble with love, and Brad Pitt, who’s been awarded the title twice by People magazine, isn’t immune.

Pitt was rudely reminded of this fact while filming the upcoming Spy Game in Budapest, the site of heartbreak for the heartthrob. In an interview with London’s Sunday Express, he talked about why the Hungarian capital reminds him of lost love.

“It was one of my worst moments,” Pitt said of his last visit to Budapest in 1989, when his fiancée of three months, actress Jill Schoelen, told him she had fallen in love with another man, Rueters reports. “It may have affected the way I’ve conducted some relationships since,” Pitt admitted.

As a result, Pitt didn’t want his wife, Jennifer Aniston, to come onto the set. “I’m superstitious about such things,” he said.

Spy Game, directed by Tony Scott and starring Pitt and Robert Redford, hits theaters Friday.
