FRESH FACE: Jamal Woolard

His Current Gig: Notorious B.I.G. in the biopic Notorious B.I.G.Jamal Woolard stars as the influential rapper who became a major player in a coast rap war with 2Pac and was shot during a drive-by in L.A. in 1997. He was just 24. To this day, the murder is unsolved.

You Know This Face … because he looks a helluva lot like Biggie. The heavy-set Woolard resides in Brooklyn and raps under the name Gravy. He’s a gunshot victim, too: While on his way to an interview with DJ Funkmaster Flex at New York’s Hot 97 in 2006 he took a bullet in the buttocks. He did the interview anyway.

Why So Fresh? As Jamie FoxxJennifer Lopez and Jennifer Hudson can attest, biopics often lead to awards, nominations and job offers aplenty. Right now he’s focusing on his acting career, but still making time for music.

In His Own Words … The walk… the wobble… mastering the shield… knowing when to use the left hand, how to talk to people, how to talk down to Kim, how to treat my moms, knowing when to be Christopher Wallace, when to be Biggie Smalls, when to be Notorious B.I.G.” he told News Blaze. “And knowing how heavy he was as Notorious and not to move too much. Knowing how to move and that I could be much faster when I was Biggie. Knowing his voice differences, too. So, there was a whole lot involved in preparing for the role.”
