FRESH FACE: ‘Tetro’ Star Alden Ehrenreich

His Current Gig: Alden Ehrenreich plays Bennie in Francis Ford Coppola’s Tetro (in theaters June 11). He’s got a bittersweet relationship with his brother Tetro — maybe because Ehrenreich is the sibling that’s stealing the scenes.

You Know This Face Because: Chances are good that you don’t — unless you caught that episode of CSI from 2006.

Why So Fresh? Making an onscreen debut in a Coppola film at age 19 earns the actor major cool points, but Ehrenreich one ups himself with the story of how he got to the big screen. It goes like this: When he was 14, Alden filmed a comedy video for a friend, which was screened at her Bat Mitvah. Steven Spielberg was a guest at the party. You can figure the rest out.

In His Own Words: “For me, the drive is storytelling,” Ehrenreich tells Interview, “To be a part of an art that tells a story and to be a catalyst, a color in that, is very exciting.”

Why We Love Him: The dark and handsome actor could probably coast on his good looks and do vapid teen movies. Instead, he has relocated from his hometown of L.A. to New York’s East Village, where is he is making short films and studying studio acting at NYU.

What’s Next: Ehrenreich will continue at NYU. We’re guessing good things will come from this studiousness. Alden is already being called the next Leonardo DiCaprio.
