Friday: ‘Celebrity Rehab with Dr. Drew’

It’s been an interesting, if controversial, rookie season for Celebrity Rehab

Dr. Drew has mixed VH1’s traditional Celebreality style with the, er, sobering issue of drug addiction, and the result is the proverbial “train wreck you can’t not watch.”

Thus, Celebrity Rehab can be considered a success by reality-TV standards.

But it has sparked discussion, albeit a mere smattering thereof, about whether or not some of the “celebrities”–you know, just like the “stars” on Dancing with the Stars–are really struggling with substance abuse issues or simply trying to re-jumpstart their fading careers.

Opponents of the show say that if it’s the latter case, then Rehab is making a mockery of addiction. It does admittedly seem as though a few of the rehabbers are more addicted to fame than drugs or alcohol.

Either way, tonight is the beginning (Part 1 of 2) of the end of the first season. The remaining celebs take part in an Outward Bound program and slowly but surely try to work their way back home.
