Gloria Trevi receives BMI Latin Awards honour

Mexican pop star Gloria Trevi was honoured with the President’s Award at the 2016 Latin Music Awards on Wednesday (02Mar16).
The singer/songwriter was selected for the coveted prize for her contribution to the entertainment industry and Latin Pop, and she performed a medley of her hits to celebrate the honour.
Before the ceremony at the Beverly Wilshire Hotel in Los Angeles, she told Billboard.com she could not take credit for the songs she writes.
“Honestly, what I write, it’s not mine,” she says. “I feel it’s dictated to me from the heavens. Seriously. I think our inspiration comes from God. Because in real life I’m nowhere near as beautiful or eloquent as my songs.”
Justin Bieber’s pal J Balvin took home the Contemporary Latin Song of the Year award for Ay Vamos, while Horacio Palencia and Jesus Tarazon tied for Latin Songwriter of the Year.
