Goldberg opens up about mother’s death

The Ghost star cut short her run in the London production of hit musical Sister Act and flew back to the U.S. to be with her mum, Emma Johnson, when she heard of her health crisis.

Johnson suffered a stroke and passed away on 29 August (10), leaving her famous daughter devastated – and Goldberg admits she’s still stunned by her mum’s sad passing.

She tells People.com, “I’m still in the processing phase. It’s really hard to believe that she’s gone. I used to talk to her every day. I’m still in the habit of talking to her, you know, but I just wish she were here with me. Every day she’d say, ‘I’m proud of you.’ And I would respond, ‘I’m proud of you.’ I was very lucky to have her as a mother.

“I know she had a great life, so I can’t be too sad. She had a great time of it. But of course I’m sad because I really miss her.”

And Goldberg insists she is concentrating on work to help her through the tough time: “I’ve been keeping really busy. Of course, there’s The View. I did two movies… and I have a book coming out next week… It’s good to have things to do, to be working. Working makes me happy.”
