Goldie receives MBE medal

Artist and musician Goldie was awarded his Member of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire (MBE) medal at Buckingham Palace in London on Wednesday (24Feb16).
The 50-year-old received the honour from The Prince of Wales for his contributions to music and the arts.
“It’s a bit of a shocker but a very, very beautiful thing to happen,” he said. “I think it also stands for what you can achieve – anything really. It was beautiful in there, just great. I’m very happy.”
He learned he was to be a 2016 MBE recipient in The Queen’s New Year’s Honours List in December (15).
“It’s beautiful,” he added. “I can see my old dear, Margaret (mother), smiling. She passed last year. Who would ever have imagined I would be given this kind of silverware?”
Goldie, real name Clifford Joseph Price, joined the likes of actor/DJ Idris Elba and Damon Albarn on this year’s Honours List.
