The GOP doesn’t have Hollywood heavyweights such as Barbra Streisand, Tom Hanks and Steven Spielberg in its corner, but it does have a few celebrities up its sleeve. According to Reuters, pro wrestler The Rock, actors Bruce Willis and Bo Derek and former San Francisco 49ers quarterback Steve Young are among the celebrities appearing at the Republican national convention that will nominate Texas Gov. George W. Bush for president in Philadelphia this week.
Other scheduled, nonpolitical guests: country singer Hank Williams Jr., singer Jon Secada, the Temptations, Chaka Khan and “NYPD Blue’s” Rick Schroder.
“We’ve got a unique celebrity lineup that will bridge generations and keep people on the edge of their seats,” GOP convention Co-Chairman Andy Card told Reuters.
