All this talk of Forest Whitaker, Little Miss Sunshine, and Helen Mirren has gotten the music industry jealous.
Tonight, the freaks, the singers, and even the spoken word artists get their chance to dress up and accept their honors on stage at the 49th Annual Grammy Awards, coming to you live from L.A.’s Staples Center. Hosted by funnyman of the moment, Stephen Colbert, and featuring performances by Justin Timberlake, The Dixie Chicks, and The Police, fresh off the band’s recent reunion, the ceremony is poised to be at its most entertaining.
2006 was the year that some wacky duo called Gnarls Barkley took the radio waves by storm, the year that John Mayer started shredding the blues instead of crooning, and the year that Timberlake put out arguably the best pop record in decades (thanks in large part to hip-hop producer Timbaland’s mesmerizing production).
