Guns N’ Roses dedicate Black Hole Sun cover to Chris Cornell

Rockers Guns N’ Roses have become the latest musicians to perform a Soundgarden cover onstage in memory of tragic frontman Chris Cornell.
Axl Rose and his reunited bandmates Duff McKagan and Slash kicked off the European leg of their Not in This Lifetime Tour in Slane, Ireland on Saturday night (27May17), and dedicated a rendition of Black Hole Sun to Cornell.
Shortly before the performance, a post on the band’s Twitter page read, “This one’s to you Chris, Black Hole Sun live from Slane Castle.”
Cornell’s peers have been delivering their own tributes onstage since the 52-year-old committed suicide following a Soundgarden show in Detroit, Michigan on 17 May (17). Ryan Adams, Heart’s Ann Wilson, and Norah Jones are among the artists who have previously performed Black Hole Sun in his honour.
The Guns N’ Roses show took place a day after Cornell was laid to rest at the Hollywood Forever Cemetery in Los Angeles. The singer’s body was cremated in a private ceremony on 23 May (17), and his ashes were buried in a plot next to his old friend, Johnny Ramone, during Friday’s (26May17) star studded memorial.
