Hailee Steinfeld to host 2018 MTV Europe Music Awards

MTV Europe Music Awards winner Hailee Steinfeld has bagged a plum gig as host of the 2018 ceremony.

Producers at the music channel posted a video clip to Facebook on Thursday (11Oct18) in which it was announced that Hailee would host the 2018 MTV EMAs show.

As well as assuming hosting duties, the 21-year-old singer/actress will be competing alongside Ariana Grande, Camila Cabello, Dua Lipa and Shawn Mendes in the Best Pop category at the awards ceremony, which will take place in Bilbao, Spain on 4 November.

“The EMAs are a show where anything can happen,” the Love Myself hitmaker gushed in the clip. “I can’t wait to host a night filled with incredible artists, performances, some surprises of my own – let’s do this, Bilbao!”

It’s the latest move in Hailee’s close association with MTV, as she scooped the Best Push Act at last year’s EMAs and recently performed at the channel’s Isle of MTV event in Malta.
And network executives have praised her “exceptional talent” and “incredible energy”.

“Hailee is a true global superstar renowned for her exceptional talent with a career that spans music, film and TV,” said Bruce Gillmer, global head of music and talent, Viacom and co-brand head, MTV International. “We are thrilled to have her as host for this year’s MTV EMAs in Bilbao and can’t wait to see her light up the stage with her incredible energy.”

The EMAs will take place at the Bilbao Exhibition Centre.
