Hepburn stamps expected to fetch $1/2 million at auction

The 10 stamps show Hepburn posing with a cigarette holder in her mouth, in character as Holly Golightly from the movie Breakfast at Tiffany’s.

Fourteen million of the stamps were printed in Germany in 2001, but almost all were destroyed when Hepburn’s son Sean Ferrer refused to grant copyright. Several sheets were saved, one of which will go under the hammer in Berlin next week (begs18Oct10).

Five stamps from the set, previously presumed stolen, have been sold in the past – one fetching $240,000 (GBP160,000).
