How porno distributors fooled Indian censors

Police in Mumbai — formerly Bombay — have raided six theaters screening porno films after receiving complaints from officials of the Central Board of Film Certification, the Times of India reported today. Although the films had previously been cleared by the board, an officer told the newspaper that the distributors had engaged in a ruse: “The films were purchased from foreign countries by unscrupulous Indian distributors. They made a duplicate print which did not have the objectionable scenes. This print was shown to the censor board to obtain a clearance certificate. But distributors sold the original film, with the objectionable scenes, to the cinema hall owners.”
