Howard speaks out on easy marriage and family

The pretty redhead admits many of the things she planned for when she was a little girl have just fallen into place in the last decade, including her film success, marriage and motherhood.

She tells Nylon magazine her personal life took a huge turn for the better on the day she met Gabel when they were both 19.

She says, “I went home that day and wrote in my journal that I met the man I was going to marry.”

The couple wed at 25 and then Howard and Gabel discovered they were about to become parents.

She adds, “Our grand plan was that we were going to wait until out thirties to start a family, but I found out I was pregnant seven days after we were married… It shifted our priorities dramatically, in a moment, and it has been in every way the best thing that could have ever happened to us… (Son) Theo has provided so much balance.”

But motherhood didn’t come easy to the actress – she recently revealed she suffered from post-partum depression.

Writing a piece for fellow post-partum sufferer Gwyneth Paltrow’s wellbeing website GOOP.com, she recalled the hell of her early months as a new mum, stating, “My husband began shooting a television series, and late evenings when he returned home, I would meet him at the door, shaking with fury: ‘I’ve hit the wall and gone through it, and I feel I am expected to go further.’

“He would ask what he could do to help, but knowing there was nothing he could do, I screamed expletives at him, behaviour he had never experienced in the seven years we had been together.”
