Hugh Grant’s ex wins paparazzi promise

Chinese model/actress Tinglan Hong became a media target while living in London last year (11) after it emerged she had fallen pregnant with Grant’s first child following a brief fling.

After giving birth to daughter Tabitha in October (11), she complained her life had become “unbearable” thanks to the constant presence of photographers.

Grant appealed for decency to prevail and won a protective order he claims kept his former lover in London, and stopped her from returning to China with their child.

Hong has continued to fight for her right to privacy and she has since won a battle against executives at a celebrity picture agency, who have vowed to leave her in peace.

The “permanent undertakings” were approved by Mr. Justice Tugendhat at London’s High Court earlier this month (Jul12), and made public on Wednesday (18Jul12).

In the court order, agency owners vowed “not to doorstep, pursue or harass Tinglan Hong or her child with paparazzi photography or place either of them under surveillance or approach within 100 metres of their home”.

Grant has been a leading force in a campaign calling for a reform of the British media since the News of the World phone hacking scandal erupted last year (11).
