Ian Brown gives evidence in TV weatherman’s sex abuse trial

The Stone Roses frontman Ian Brown told a court that a former British TV weatherman tried to sexually abuse his friend.
The 54-year-old singer appeared to give evidence at the trial of Fred Talbot in Lanark Sheriff Court in Scotland on Tuesday (16May17).
According to the BBC, Brown said Talbot, who worked as a teacher before becoming a TV star, had taught him biology at a school in Greater, Manchester, England in the late 1970s.
He alleged Talbot, 67, attempted to abuse his school friend while overseeing a camping trip to Scotland in late 1977 or early 1978. Brown said his friend told him their teacher tried to sexually abuse him after inviting him into his tent.
The former TV weatherman faces eight charges of indecent assault over incidents alleged to have occurred between 1978 and 1981. He faces an additional charge of lewd, indecent and libidinous practices and behaviour dating from 1978.
Talbot, best known for presenting the weather on a giant floating map of the British Isles on the U.K.’s ITV network, denies the charges.
The trial continues.
