Iggy Pop goes nude for art

Iggy Pop has let it all out by posing as a nude model for a new art show.
The veteran punk rocker is known for performing without a shirt on, but last week (21Feb16), he took things to a new level by shedding all his clothes for a life drawing class at the New York Academy of Art.
The session was organised by British artist Jeremy Deller, who is curating an exhibition at the Brooklyn Museum entitled Iggy Pop Life Class. Deller selected a group of 21 artists representing New York’s diverse community, who all gathered to draw the 68-year-old rocker as he posed leisurely on a table.
“For me it makes perfect sense for Iggy Pop to be the subject of a life class; his body is central to an understanding of rock music and its place within American culture,” Deller said in a statement. “His body has witnessed much and should be documented.
“The life class is a special place in which to scrutinise the human form. As the bedrock of art education and art history, it is still the best way to understand the body.”
Iggy Pop Life Class will open this autumn (16) before touring other, as yet unannounced, museums.
