Seth Rogen on his new dramedy Observe and Report, upcoming action flick Green Hornet, dieting tips and popping the question …

What’s the deal with your character Ronnie?
“Me and Jody [Hill] always discussed him as a [security] guy — [and when] a flasher comes to the mall, and he finally gets a case that he seems like he might be able to solve, he can’t do it. I always described it in my head: It was like a guy who is a loser his whole life, and he gets an opportunity to f–k the prom queen and he just can’t get it up.”
Ray Liotta‘s a total badass, no?
“He’s definitely like the most real actor I’ve ever worked with. It’s really interesting to see the steps a real actor takes when doing a role, as opposed to how I just kind of blindly walk into the scenes. He knows his lines and sh-t like that … It’s my role to kind of annoy him to the point that I finally crack him, and I kind of feel like that’s [what was] happening in real life.”
Your parents must be completely shockproof at this point.
“I think it’s because the movie ultimately works. I think that’s why my parents are fine with this because I’m not humiliating myself for bad movies. They are like, “At least they’re turning out pretty good! The audience seems to be enjoying it.” It would be one thing if I am date-raping [Anna Faris in the movie], and there is no laughter at all. The fact that he gets some big laughs kind of makes it all OK.”
Green Hornet should be a little tamer, right?
“We want it to have funny parts, and we want the relationships to be funny, but we want the action to be like a real action movie.”
And will it live up to the original?
“We were inspired by the original. We kind of took what we thought was good and left what we didn’t. Honestly, we didn’t feel any real obligation living up to the original because the radio plays totally different than the TV show which is different than the comic book. There is no real set way.”
Stephen Chow was set to co-star and direct — where’s that at?
“He’s kind of our mascot. [laughs] He may be Kato. I’m not 100 percent sure if that’s the case, but it’s a very likely possibility. I’m not sure. Honestly, we’re kind of in the very early phases right now. We’re just putting those elements in place so I’m being honest. I honestly don’t know yet … right now the end of June. That is our tentative start date.”
You’ve lost all this weight for Green Hornet, what’s your secret?
“Bulimia. It’s great. You eat whatever you want and then you throw it up after. You get all the flavors of delicious food, but none of the negative side effects. I recommend every young girl try it.”
Seriously, how did you do it? Hire a trainer?
“I drink. Some people go with the finger, but I drink until the point of vomiting that way you get drunk also … Bulimia came naturally to me. I was just able to accomplish that without any real training. I’m good. I’m naturally bulimic.”
Do you think you’ll stick with this physique?
“That’s the question. I think we should take a pool like an office pool. We’ll divide up weights into a chart.”
Your Observe costar Anna Faris just got engaged … are you next?
“Anna [Faris] really wants me to. She’s really pushing me. She’s constantly asking me if I need help picking out a ring.”
So …
“Everything is going great [with my girlfriend]. Who was it that just got engaged? Calista Flockhart and Harrison Ford, right? They were my couple. I was like, ‘They’re not engaged; they are just happy to be together.’ F–k. If Kurt Russell and Goldie Hawn get engaged, I’m totally [screwed]. That will be when it happens.”
