The Painted Veil

A drama set in London in 1922 about a restless married woman who, after cheating on her conservative scientist husband with a local playboy, embarks on a journey to the Far East to battle cholera. The journey becomes an odyssey of self discovery.

Previous versions of W. Somerset Maugham’s novel include “The Painted Veil” (USA/1934), directed by Richard Boleslavsky and starring Greta Garbo, and “The Seventh Sin” (USA/1957), directed by Ronald Neame and starring Eleanor Parker and Bill Travers.
