Ja Rule unveils plans for final solo album

Rapper Ja Rule will hang up his microphone after the release of his eighth and final solo album.
The Always On Time star has been working on new material for the past couple of years, and in 2014, he announced the follow-up to 2012’s Pain Is Love 2 would be titled Genius Loves Company.
However, Ja Rule has since found a new name for the project, which he reveals will be his last.
“My next album will be my best!!!” he wrote on Twitter.com over the weekend (20-21Feb16). “And I changed the name of my LAST ALBUM!!! It’s no longer gonna be called Genius loves company… My best shall be my last…”
He then pleaded with fans not to bother him as he completes the album, adding, “Bare (sic) with me be patient this is ART I’m creating!!! COUP DE GRACE…”
Ja Rule has yet to expand on his plans to retire, but it doesn’t mean he will be taking it easy after the release of Coup De Grace. He is currently developing a TV show about the beginnings of his label, Murder Inc Records, with company founder Irv Gotti, while he previously expressed a desire to reunite with frequent collaborator Ashanti.
“Me and Ashanti are about to go on a big world tour…,” he told Billboard.com in October (15), “and we’re putting together a music and film project with our whole Natural Born Killers tour and EP.”
“It’s kind of like a Streets is Watching type of film,” Ja Rule said, referring to Jay Z’s 1998 film. “So yeah, we’re doing something kind of cool and fun. It’s been a long time in the making.”
The rapper divulged the plot is a cross between Barbra Streisand’s iconic A Star Is Born and serial killer black comedy Natural Born Killers: “It’s fictional,” he added. “It has a musical feel to it, and it also has a street edge. It’s going to be fun and sexy.”
