Jaden Smith praises famous family in new ad campaign

Jaden Smith has paid tribute to his parents Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith in a heartwarming ad campaign which features old home video footage of him as a toddler.
The rapper and philanthropist appears in New Balance’s Runs in the Family campaign which debuted earlier this month with a short promo, and the newly announced ambassador shared his story in the ad for the sportswear firm.
In the promo, the 21-year-old touches upon his vision for the future, while also praising his famous family – including his movie star mum and dad, Jada and Will – and his friends for keeping him grounded.
Jaden explains in the clip being “an icon is someone who breaks boundaries” but added his real mission is to “create as much art as possible and inspire people to do the same”. He also teases an upcoming project, which he called revolutionary and “unlike anything I’ve done before.”
Footage of the Icon rapper as toddler also features, alongside shots of the young rapper wearing the New Balance 997H and 997S trainers.
“As an iconic change-maker, Jaden exemplifies the New Balance brand philosophy of fearless independence,” the company said in a statement.
“His convention-defying work in fashion and music, coupled with his dedication to philanthropy and environmental awareness, speak to larger global issues and how they impact his generation. He uses his platform to engage youth and encourages them to be their authentic selves.”
Jaden joins fellow ambassadors basketball player Kawhi Leonard, soccer star Sadio Mane, Olympic sprinter Sydney McLaughlin, pro-skater Jamie Foy, and baseball player Francisco Lindor who will also share their Runs in the Family stories as a part of the campaign.
