Jaden Smith to receive environmental award

Jaden Smith is set to be honoured by the Environmental Media Association (EMA) for his philanthropic efforts.
The 18-year-old actor, rapper and activist will receive the Male EMA Futures Award at the upcoming EMA Awards on 22 October (16), reports JustJared.com.
Jaden is being award the accolade for his leadership and action on environmental issues, including his involvement with environmentally-friendly drinks company JUST Water.
Calvin Harris and Queen Latifah are also involved in the firm, which aims to tackle water usage, pollution and recycling across the globe.
In a statement, the son of Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith said: “It’s important for everyone to know that you can make a difference no matter what obstacles you think are in your way.
“After seeing the amount of ocean pollution and the effect it was having on marine wildlife, I couldn’t stand there and do nothing about it – I knew I had to take action.”
“With the Male EMA Futures Award, our voices are being amplified and we’re making a difference. Having the support from an organization that shares the same values as me makes the future more optimistic than ever,” he added.
Dance star Moby was previously unveiled as the recipient of the EMA Missions in Music Award, a titled presented to Eagles icon Don Henley last year (15).
Reality TV star and fashion designer Nicole Richie will host the EMA Awards in California on 22 October (16).
The non-profit Environmental Media Association was co-founded by TV writer and producer Norman Lear in 1989 to encourage green production and raise the public’s awareness of environmental causes.
