Former New England Patriot Aaron Hernandez Commits Suicide

Disgraced New England Patriot Aaron Hernandez has killed himself in his jail cell.

The former New England Patriots star, 27, was serving a life sentence in Souza Baranowski Correctional Center in Shirley, Massachusetts after being convicted of the murder of semi-professional player Odin Lloyd in 2013.

The sportsman’s suicide on Wednesday (19Apr17) came days after he was acquitted of a separate double murder.

Massachusetts Department of Correction assistant deputy commissioner of communications Christopher M. Fallon said in a statement, “On April 19, 2017 Aaron Hernandez was discovered hanged in his cell by corrections officers at the Souza Baranowski Correctional Center in Shirley, Massachusetts at approximately 3:05 a.m., lifesaving techniques were attempted on Mr. Hernandez and he was transported to UMASS Leominster (hospital) where he was pronounced dead at 4:07 a.m. by a physician at the hospital.”

Fallon revealed that Hernandez hanged himself using a bed sheet that he attached to his cell window. Massachusetts State Police officers have launched an investigation into his death.

Hernandez was acquitted of the 2012 murders of Daniel de Abreu and Safiro Furtado last Friday (14Apr17) after a five-week trial.

He had been charged with eight crimes in total, including three counts of armed assault and was found guilty of possession of a weapon.

The sports star leaves a four-year-old daughter, Avielle, and fiancee Shayanna Jenkins-Hernandez.
