James Bond cast secretly met real-life spies – report

The cast of the new James Bond film have reportedly met with some of Britain’s top spies on the set of the new 007 movie.
According to Britain’s Daily Mail newspaper, U.K. spy chief Alex Younger and other senior figures from British intelligence agency MI6, visited Pinewood Studios in Buckinghamshire, England, last week (end11Aug19).
Younger reportedly shook hands with Ralph Fiennes, who plays ‘M’, his counterpart in the Bond films, while he and other senior officials spoke to its other stars, including 007 himself, Daniel Craig.
“Sir Alex and other senior MI6 figures came down and met Fiennes as well as other stars of the film, including 007 Daniel Craig, Moneypenny Naomie Harris and Bond baddie Rami Malek,” an insider told the publication. “It was an absolutely fascinating meeting of real-life spies and their on-screen equivalents.”
When contacted by the Daily Mail, a spokesman for the film’s producers Eon Productions declined to comment on the reported set visit.
Younger, who is known as ‘C’ and is the only member of Britain’s intelligence services who can be publicly identified, has praised the Bond franchise in the past, saying its glamour makes his foreign counterparts jealous.
“He has created a powerful brand for MI6: as C, the real-life version of M, there are few people who will not come to lunch if I invite them,” he said in a speech in London 2016. “Many of our counterparts envy the sheer global recognition of our acronym.”
However, he added that the films bore little resemblance to reality and that Bond’s swashbuckling style was not a model real officers follow.
The new James Bond film is scheduled for release in April next year.
