James Corden: ‘Bread is my kryptonite’

James Corden is ready to finally overcome his battle with his weight.
The Late Late Show with James Corden host hopes to get in shape within the next five years before it is “too late”, but told Britain’s Daily Star newspaper there’s one thing stopping him.
“Bread is the absolute destroyer of me and it’s everywhere,” the 40-year-old lamented. “You can’t move for it. It’s everywhere. I’d do anything to (stop).”
The Tony Award-winning star went on to detail his fluctuating weight, revealing: “I think the lightest I have been is 212lb (96kg), something like that. Right now I’m like 234lb (106kg).
The comic added that his “intention is to peak around 45”, and by whipping himself into shape, he plans to “defy the ageing process”.
“Most people get less good-looking, and I reckon if you’re really fat when you’re 20, you can defy the entire ageing process. So 45 to 55, people are like, ‘What?’ ” he laughed.
“I’d love to come back here in a year and you go, ‘Oh my God. What has happened?’ Imagine.”
In addition to being a prominent face on U.S. TV, the Brit is heading back to his native U.K. over the 2019 festive season for a one-off revival of his beloved BBC sitcom Gavin & Stacey.
On reuniting with collaborator Ruth Jones, James gushed: “We’re so excited to get the chance to work with our fabulous cast and crew once more and to give fans of the show a festive treat this Christmas.
“We’re excited to share it with you. See you on Christmas Day.”
