Jared Padalecki: ‘Having a daughter makes me feel vulnerable’

Supernatural actor Jared Padalecki is a lot more nervous having a daughter than he was when he welcomed his two boys.
The actor, who is a father to sons Austin Shepherd, three, and Thomas Colton, five, with his wife Genevieve, welcomed daughter Odette Elliott, back in March (17). And while he is enjoying the experience, he has revealed that having a girl has stirred up different feelings compared to how he felt after the arrival of his sons.
“With boys, you’re like, ‘Go skin your knees and go break your arms like I did,'” the 34-year-old actor shared in an interview with People magazine. “But with a girl, you’re like, ‘If somebody ever touches her, I’ll go off the handle!’”
Despite his fears, the father-of-three is loving the new addition to the family, describing Odette as a “super chill baby”.
“She’s exactly what you want in a child: She pees and she eats and she sleeps,” he gushed. “She’s perfect already, and it would be great if she stays that way. She seems like she has a cool inner strength of like, ‘Hey, this is me. I can’t walk and talk now, but I’m comfortable’”.
The couple have also had to make adjustments now that they’re outnumbered, as well as making sure the boys are bonding with their sister.
“Now we’re on zone defense instead of man-to-man, so one of us has to have the boys, and one of us gets to have the girl,” the Gilmore Girls star smiled. “And it’s important for us to make sure that our sons know that the addition of our daughter, their sister, is something only to be excited about.”
