Jenna Dewan and Channing Tatum’s daughter wants to be a dancer

Jenna Dewan and Channing Tatum’s daughter has set her sights on becoming a dancer.

The World of Dance host and her former husband both have a background in professional dance, with the duo, who announced their separation in April (18), meeting on the set of 2006 film Step Up.

During an interview on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on Tuesday night (26Jun18), Jenna shared that it appears that her five-year-old daughter Everly has inherited a passion for dance, though she has a very “free-spirited” technique right now.

“So Everly, she wants to be a professional ballerina,” she said. “She has stated this, but – there’s a but – she doesn’t want to follow the teacher at all. All the other girls are perfectly watching the teacher and she’s, like, ready for Coachella (festival). She’s off in the corner and she’s like feeling herself.

“She’s free-spirited… I’m like ‘What about freestyling? That’d be cool.’ And she’s like, ‘No, no. Professional ballerina.’ But she literally doesn’t follow the class at all.”

Jenna then showed the audience a video of Everly in a ballet class, swinging her arms aimlessly as the other little girls performed perfectly for the teacher.

During the chat, the 37-year-old also spoke about what was like to work as a backup dancer for Janet Jackson early in her career. The brunette star, who was sporting a figure-hugging red Zac Posen dress, then got to her feet and tried to instruct host Jimmy on the choreography for Janet’s 1989 song Rhythm Nation.

While Jenna performed the moves flawlessly, Jimmy didn’t fare so well and asked his house band, The Roots, to not “start laughing already”.
